Moving To Oklahoma

I will be moving to Oklahoma in Sept. and would like a little help. Is there a good website for hunting and fishing information?Should I just get a good mapshowing the different couinties and go to State Game Dept and start from there ?I like to explore ad find spots on my own so just looking for place to get a good feel for the different areas of the state.
My home base will be in the Oklahoma City area. I primarily enjoy waterfowl and bird hunting and travel up to Wy. for antelope and mulies when I can. I also enjoy flyfishing for trout and was wondering what opportunities Ok. might have in store. Once I get settled in my time is pretty much my own so I'm looking forward to explore my new homestate.

Ruddyduck,
you can go to wildlifedepartment.com this should be a good place to start you should be able to find what you are looking for. There is plenty of public hunting land for deer, turkey, waterfowl, and upland birds. I know of 2 different places to trout fish the lower Illinois river is good for rainbows we always catch plenty there and the Blue river in sotheastern Ok. is also a good place you can get the browns there,I'm sure there are more good places but these 2 are the only ones I've tried. hope this helps!

Well another welcome from us too!

We are just 50 minutes north of OKC. There is plenty of Bob white hunting, waterfowl and whitetail right here. You have to go a few hours west for pronghorn, Scaled Quail and Chickens though.

We bird hunt 5 days a week, train dogs every day as well.

When you get settled.....give us a holler as well....we will show ya around a bit!

Oh yeah! Oklahoma is awesome for deer and pheasant. I dont live there anymore but I make an annual pilgrimage to cremlin county each year for a whitetail hunt. We took 5 deer this year. Pheasants were abundant!
