Rut in NC

I see alot of post about the rut so I though I wouldadd my observations.

Over the last week I have seen alot of deer movement, however, I have seen some does without bucks trailing with their young from last year tagging along.

A friend killed a very large and mature 9 point this past thursday and the deer was not stinky and his tarsal glands were not swollen or moist.

I am no expert by any stretch of the imagination but it seems that it has yet to kick into high gear here.

One more cold spell and it will be here. Probably the 23rd or so. Had a buck come into rattling 3 days ago, if they were chasin' I don't think rattling would be as effective

They have been in rut here for about a week. Necks all swollen and on the hunt!

I agree with tperk. I hunt just down the road from him. They were no fresh scrapes where as the week before they were all over the place.
