Well I don't live in your area of Virginia but you can check out the Virginia Deer Hunting site where I'm sure there should be a couple. It's a great site with a lot of info for Virginia hunters.... here's the link and good luck,

It's about a three hour drive from Chester to here, but there are all the opportunities you would ever want to observe deer and other critters. Come on over some time and I'll be glad to give you the "two dollar tour" of the mountains. If your looking for photogenic opportunities, now untill around the first week of November is good...thats when muzzleloading comes in. If you want to kill something, any time after the first week of November is good.

I'm in chester also. Since you are new to the Area, and it seems to take a while to find a place to hunt on private land around here, I would say to check Amelia wildlife management area. Powhatan wildlife area and Pocahontas state park. Amelia and Powhatan are within an hour drive and Pocahontas is 15 minutes out Beach Rd. There are area's you can hunt at all of these places. Check with the Pocahantas people to see if you need a special stamp to hunt there. I have not hunted any of these area's but have hunted Chicahominy Wildlife area. Thats a good spot, but a lot further than the others, and the bugs will pick you up and fly off with you.

LOL!!!! Ain't that the truth!!!!!! Hog Island WMA is even worse. The bugs are immune to even the most toxic of sprays! The bugs come equipped with landing lights, so they get you 24/7!!
