Food plots
 
I have tried to plant a few different food plots this past year and nothing has taken root very well any north texas guys have any suggestions? My land gets very little rain except in the fall and early spring. anything inparticular work well for anyone?

It doesn't matter where you are, Texas, La., Ark. The best attractant that I have found that grows in any kind of conditions is OATS.

Maybe you could try some alfalfa. It has a very deep root system so it can pull moisture up from the subsoil.

I plant a mix of oats/rye/wheat and white ladino clover...in the fall when it starts getting cooler and raining...usually from mid Sept to mid Oct...the clover will last 4-5 years and the grasses pull them in for the fall hunt...
If you plant in the spring the root system doesn't grow deep enough to make it through the summer..
