Hunting around Charlotte

I recently moved to the university area of Charlotte, NCand was wondering if the various pockets of woods around hold deer. I'm originally from Pittsburgh, and I know many of the suburbs that surround the city hold lots of deer (including some monsters). Does anyone know if Charlotte is similar? I don't need any specifics, just some general information. Thanks in advance.

South of Charlotte in SC (what else) is full of deer, turkeys, doves, squirrels, coons, possums, aligators etc. Welcome to the area.

Check out Fairfield County.

Many acres of public land near Charlotte. go to http://www.wildlife.state.nc.us/fs_index_04_hunting.htm
and click on maps, then "2" the piedmont gamelands.

Hey Irishiup,

I have been down here in NC for a short period of time as well, this will be my first year down here. Maybe we could hook up and do some scouting / hunting together. I have been looking at the 2 or 3 of the different gamelands and thinking about going out and doing some more scouting. Drop me an email / reply if your interested.

Scott
