Did KY second guess the Xbow?
I heard that they decided not to allow crossbows for the 05-06 deer season. Wasnt it only last month they put it in 'the 05-06 hunting guide' ? Someone in KY or elsewhere help me out...

RE: Did KY second guess the Xbow?
In short: Yes. It was original proposed that xbows could be used during all of archery season for both deer and turkey. There has been a statewide uproar over how the proposed season was established. In the June meeting the DNR removed the extended season and left it as a one week season to follow rifle season.
Eventually, I think we are going to see an extended xbow season; just not in 2005. If you want to follow some ofthe issues kyhunting.com has a forum for crossbows that probaly has more detail than you really wanted. |

RE: Did KY second guess the Xbow?
Kentucky's game commission bowed to what they termed "social pressure" . Political pressure would be more accurate , and the losers were their citizens . Kentucky has a dedicated crossbow season , all that was sought was a logical expansion of use . Crossbows have never been a problem there , so the "social pressure" is a bit of a mystery to me . I live just across the state line and occasionally go down there for the crossbow season . I could just as easily stay home and take my one buck and 8 does compared to spending the cash for a non-res and tag , this year I just might .
