RE: guns

I have a Marlin model 60 so I would say go with the Marlin. It is an accurate gun for a semi.

why not consider a ruger 10-22, if its accuracy you are looking for the 10-22 has got to be the most accurate semi auto 22 around. heres a pic of a 10 shot group at 50 yards from my 10-22, the only thing I did to the gun is put a after market heavy barrel, hogue over molded stock and a cheapo 20 dollar 3-9 power scope on it.

Dont go with a .22Mag or .17 HMR if you plan on eating the squirrels after the hunt............

...unless you know you can get a head shot.

I dont know anything about the marlin's but I was looking at the savage arms and some of them looked pretty good. nice prices to. I dont know about performance though. I have shot a ruger .22lr and its held up pretty good over the years. I haven't sited it in in a while though and i'd say its over due. And the ten round clip is great to. you can shoot as fast as you can pull the trigger. reloading is easy to. Also, im going to change the scope, i have a 4x15 but the lens is too small so im upgrading to a larger one. I mainly use this gun for squirrels, but im confident it could take down a fox, dont know about coyote but it could handle a beaver.

Also, not to put anyone in the spotlight, but i've always thought that although the gun is a big part of accuracy, its more a part of how good the shooter is. JMO

Hope this helped somewhat.
