questions about trapping

i am interested in trapping and would like to know what can you trap and how much does it cost to get started. is it hard? are you always succesful?
i would like to trap small critters like beavers and things about that size. do you get alot of money for pelts? please help out a new guy interested in trapping.

cost? You can spend a little or a lot
Hard? can be some serious hard work, especially beaver trapping
Always successful? LOL Hardly!
Profitable? LOL Not since the fur boom of th 70's and early 80's
