.22 Caliber Rifle
I have never actually owned one of these (pathetic I know) I mainly use my buddies spares and I figured I should get off my lazy butt and purchase one, what is a really good one for $150 or under that has a scope on it and stuff?

RE: .22 Caliber Rifle
You can get a Henry .22 lever action for around 180-190 bucks. It is HIGHLY accurate with the correct scope. I was shooting clay pigeons propped up at 190 yards.

RE: .22 Caliber Rifle
I am kinda lookin for a Bolt action though, they are cooler I think lol. So does Henry make good guns?

RE: .22 Caliber Rifle
The Savage and Marlin are both good 22's for the price. Just don't throw a crappy scope on it, and they'll shoot.

RE: .22 Caliber Rifle
For about $400 you can get a Ruger 77/22 mine will put 10 shot under a nickel at 25 yards and I can put 5 shots under a 1/2" at 50 with a 4x scope. I love mine and would highly recomend it. The Ruger 10/22 is about $180 and it is a very good gun also.

RE: .22 Caliber Rifle
i know you said you like bolt actions but the ruger 10/22 its lots of fun to shoot and can be very accurate for a stock rifle. i havent done anything to it and ill consistanly hit gopher at 50+ yards. with a 4x scope. plus if you want to customize it, it very easy ther eis an endless amount of products for it. if you decide to go autoloaders stay away from the remington 597, they jam alot.

RE: .22 Caliber Rifle
My friend has a Savage and he got it at Walmart for $100, I think ill buy that one for myself because it shoots really well and accurate.

RE: .22 Caliber Rifle
Anyone heard anything about the Rossi Matched pair? It's a .22LR that quick-changes to a 12 ga. Talk about versatility. And it's only like $150. I've been thinking about picking one up.

RE: .22 Caliber Rifle
sifuskyler, my buddy has one,he really likes it,i have a rossi pump 22lr.i think rossi is a good gun for the money
icedragon,i have a marlin i keep behind the seat of my truck, and it shoots fine, and its accurate.(simmons scope) |
RE: .22 Caliber Rifle

ORIGINAL: SifuSkyler Anyone heard anything about the Rossi Matched pair? It's a .22LR that quick-changes to a 12 ga. Talk about versatility. And it's only like $150. I've been thinking about picking one up. Don't make this mistake. I'd strongly recommend going with either a marlin with their micro grooves (I use a model 780 bolt) or a savage with their accu-trigger (which I hear is the best thing since smokeless powder). |
RE: .22 Caliber Rifle
i have a savage mark 11 .22 i bought 3 yrs ago for about 100 dollars it is a bolt action and comes with a 10 round clip and scope. but if you want to make it accurate you just go and buy a bsa 3-7-20. you can also buy more clips for about 16.00 i can pop small animals in the head at 100 yards
|
RE: .22 Caliber Rifle
Cant get much of anything for under $150 with a scope nowdays lol
I reccomment tryin a NEF Sportster in .17 Mach 2 Ive got one and it is extremely accurate, taken tons of squirrels with it too. |
RE: .22 Caliber Rifle
I dont know about all the good brands or anything, but I get a cataloge in the mail for something called Cheap As Dirt. they have some pretty cool stuff for really really cheap. i found a .22lr in there for 99$ I think it has a 10 round clip and it might also be synthetic, not sure. but i think you can find it at www.cheapasdirt.com I've never bought any of their products so i dont know about quality though.

i have the cz 452 2e zkm lux very nice got from gander mountain. I just put a braska lit crosshair scop on it but need to get leupold see through rings at wal-mart i paid around 190 for gun and 40 for scope. cz has some nice firearms all types i want to get a 10shot clip for my rifle but my gunsmiths are very bad with ordering and feedback to me. |
RE: .22 Caliber Rifle
I have a 597 Remmy. I have never had a problem with jamming. Maybe 4 rounds out of a brick with the lubed lead shells, maybe 3 with the coper jackets. The key is proper lubrication and keping the action clean. I shoot with iron sights on it right now, and can get bobcats out to 100 yds. I've hit them out farther than that, but I don't chase wounded cats, and they won't drop at that range.
As far as plinking is concerned, it is within 1" at 75 yds, and again, that is with iron sights. It is a great .22 for the price. I bought it over a 10/22 because it pointed better for me, and I like the grey syn stock (I know Im weird). My advice: pick up several and point them, buy the one that is best for you. Good advice for any gun purchase. |
RE: .22 Caliber Rifle
Might wanna try a H&R or New England Arms single shot. Their prices on .22s can vary from $140 to $170. And they come with scope bases.
My NEF sportster .17 Mach 2 was a little over $180 out the door. |
RE: .22 Caliber Rifle

RE: .22 Caliber Rifle
my brother just got a ruger 10/22 and he loves it
he took it to the range last week and shot some very nice groupings also you can find plenty of stocks for it to customize he even founds an AR bulpup stock that he uses at the range but whatever thats my suggestion |
RE: .22 Caliber Rifle
Thanks everyone for suggestion and what not. I might be going with a Savage Mark II.
|
RE: .22 Caliber Rifle
Gun Tests magazine just had a test with several .22's, The CZ was the best, by quite a bit, but the Savage was 2nd..

RE: .22 Caliber Rifle
Wait, what is the difference between WMR and LR rimfire rifles?
|
RE: .22 Caliber Rifle
Nevermind I know now. I just need my dog gone Paycheck to buy it![:@]

RE: .22 Caliber Rifle
22wmr is 22mag its casing is about twice the size of a 22lr shell it holds more power but uses the same cal of slug as the 22lr. The 22wmr is to much on squirrel and rabbit and all small game unless u dont plan on eating it. The 22wmr is more of a pest control rifle works great for groundhogs or ne vermins u wana get rid of!
