If you want to keep a nice pelt, the 30-30 is way too big. I took my first with my 30-30 and it blew that sucker UP.

If you can find Accelerator loads for 30/30 they would be great! .22 cal with a plastic 30 cal. sabot.

Alot of people use 22-250's and 223's for Yotes but I am a .243 man myself. Not alot of pelt damage and they put a yote down without the need for a second shot. Site in for 250 yrds dead on and you'll be about an inch high at 100 and an inch low at 300 depending on the ammo.

I'v got my Savage model 11 equipted with a harris bi-pod, and Bushnell 6 x 18 power scope. A three shot group is with in an inch and a half at 250 yrds.

If you dont care about the pelt use what ever ya got, but I wouldn't go any lower than a 22-250.

They can be a pretty tough critter.
