Scope Power & type

Looking to pick up a new scope for my .22LR, and was wondering what power and brands of scopes you guys enjoy using. I'll be using this for squirrel and rabbit.

Thanks.

Anything in the 3-9 power range would be quite adequate for squirrels and rabbits out to any typical distance these animals are taken at. A Tasco scope or similar are good scopes for the money for such hunting. Another decent option is to use a red dot scope.

I have a 3-9x Bushnell on mine. I got it for about $40 and I am pleased with it. Its a great scope BUT, I agree with gopher slayer, I wish I had more power when I have to take those longer shots. I would look into getting a 4-16x. Thats what I am going to replace my 3-9x with soon.

4-16 is wayyy too much for a .22. 3-9X is plenty. 2-7 would be perfect. squirrels and rabbits arent always standing still so you can't have a high powered scope that you can't get on them with. I've killed just as many squirrels with iron sights as with scopes, same with rabbits. i'd take a 4X32 or 2-7 over a 4-16 any day of the week. its just a .22 LR, not a .22-250 or .308

i would suggest the 3x9 but if u feel that u need more power i would get the 4x12 but no higher, if it was me i would stick with the 3x9

I have a new nikon 4x32 on my 10/22. I had a bushnell 4-12 on it and thought it was just too much. If you want my slightly used 4-12 then send me a private message, I'll send it to you for a flat rate of $40.00 in the continental U.S. If you have a 10/22 with a weaver rail on it I can send the rings with it and it will mount up easily. I just think that the 4-12 with a ajustible oblective is too much to have mounted on top of a 10/22.
