Looking for a good, cheap varmint scope
 

Hey,
I know when you pay for optics the price tag usually means the quality but I am looking for a decent scope for under $100 (less would be great). I was looking for something in the 4-16 power range. I have a 3-9 right now and its just not cutting it on those 40 plus yard shots. I will be using this scope for a .22lr (Marlin 7000).
Any opinions?

i have simmons prohunter 4-12x40AO for $150 CND. great scope for the money. i have it on my 17hmr. a tassco varmint scopes are nice my cousin has a 2.5-10x42AO mil dot retical on his 17hmr and it works great. its $100 CND

You should be able to find a Tasco 6-24 varmint scope on ebay for under a hundred bucks. An excellant product for the money.

I looked into the Tasco scopes but have heard that they are not very good scopes. I understand that they are not the best quality considering thier price but are they even worth buying?

Simmons ATV on Natchez was a several hundred dollar scope, and now they are selling for well under $100. I have one on my .17 HMR and loved it so much I bought another for my .22 Hornet. They are 4.5 - 14x40 AO and I think mine cost $89.

On a 22lr you should be fine with the glass you have.

ARe you shooting at someting very little?

Not trying to talk you out of buying any thing.I beleave it is best to go lower power on close range on varmint hunting.I would say that there is something roung with your scope.I use a srate 4 power on my 223/12 for calling and a 3x9 on mt 223 bolt for long range All though out at 400 yards I could use a better scope.

I would check in to more scopes to see if there is a prob with yours.

i bought a bsa 4-16x44 mil-dot / illuminated for about $ 100 and it has been a great scope so far i have had it on my 308 with about 400rds though it. never had a problem.:D my brother shot it twice and then went and bought him one and is very happy with it;)

I have a tasco target\varmint 6.5x24x42.Awesome scope.Only 90 bucks.The price was not why I got the scope,I liked it more than some scopes costing much more.........so did jeff on www.gunblast.com go read about it.
