Airgun fps??
I found a buddy to take with me squirrel hunting, but he doesn't hunt, nor does he have a gun. I'm taking my .22LR, and the only thing I have for him is my Daisy Powerline 881 I had as a kid....thing is still in good shape and from what I read kicks out 670fps. Using a pellet, in your opinion, take down a squirrel??
I know it will kick the hell out of a pepsi can, but haven't shot a squirrel with it. |
RE: Airgun fps??
This just in, .177 cal pellet out 670fps, not enough to take down local willey squirrel. Tried it out in the back yard, and that squirrel kept on running. Admittedly, it wasn't a head shot. After missing a couple at the head I took one at the body. Difficult to take a head shot at a squirrel 30 yards away without a scope. It appears I nailed him on the right side....just behind the first leg.....(saw blood on the right side) and he just kept on running...down the tree..onto anther tree....down to the ground...and into a wood pile....where I couldn't coax him out by moving logs.... He may go down at some point...I'll never know, but it appears I've been out done by a squirrel....at least with the Daisy Powerline 881.
NOW, tomorrow when we go hunting with the remington .22LR with a scope we'll see who's out done..... |
RE: Airgun fps??
I have a Gamo Shadow Hunter with 1000 fps and it does the trick.

RE: Airgun fps??
I have a Gamo Young Hunter, it shoots 640 fps and gets the job done. Just read the signature. :)

RE: Airgun fps??
I used to have the precursor ,
the 880 with a 4X scope . Slayed many a rabbit from 25 yards with it so squirrels should be easy . |
