is a 308 a good cal for coyote hunting?
the only two rifles i own is a howa 308 and a 22lr. which would be better for coyote hunting. and if you all have any info on how to get started on hunting coyotes. thanks Alvin

The 308 would be the best , the 22 will work too just your range is limited to about 60 to 75 yards and you will want to make head shots. I have killed alot of yotes with my 308. good luck

.308, definitely. If you wish to save the pelts, I'd look into buying a smaller center fire caliber.

I have a .308 and would advise the 110 gr ballistic tips... they do a number on coyote and varmints. If you can shoot them in the head to save the pelt.. I shot a couple in the chest and damn near flipped the coyote.

just use your 308 whith what you use for deer its good practice and aien't no reason for anything else

here's the true beauty of the .308...it is so popular that you can find or handload anything imaginable. A .308 is on my dream list, and it will be solely for fun, yotes, and deer (should Illinois ever legalize it).

The .308 will work fine. Shoot military surplus ammo. It's Full Metal Jackets, so they should do minimal damage to the pelt.

The .308 is much better than the .22lr. For coyotes.
110 gran bullets would be your best choice but I don't know of any one that loads them aside from these the 150 grain bullets would be your second best choice. |
