Ram Power Snares for Yotes?

Hey folks, we seem to have an abundance of coyotes coming into our farmyard during all hours of the day. I am away from home for weeks at a time so I am not able to shoot all of them. I am looking at getting a few Ram Power snares for the dogs. I chose them because I should be able to avoid catching the cat. Should be something easy enough I can teach my dad to check every morning. I am just wondering has anyone used these snares if so how did you like em? Also any tips or tricks would be appreciated because i have never trapped yotes before. Thanks.

I have never used snares, but have heard they work well. Set them out where the coyotes are coming under fences. Snaring one around the neck is preferred to leg traps. Less chance to catch something other than a coyote. Also, coyotes will chew the leg off that is entangled to free themselves. They can't do that when you have them around the neck.

If they are coming up around your farmhouse, they are probably after your cat. We have lost cats to coyotes in the past. They get bolder and bolder as they go unmolested, showing up in sight of the house during the day and coming right up to the house at night. If you have dogs, a younger pup will come up and yip at the dog to try entice the dog to come out and chase it. It will lead the dog away from the house, where the rest of the pack is lying in wait.

Ram power snares will easily do the trick, and are pretty esy to set, once you practice a few times,Also you may want to check out the "Collar-Um" trap.

RE: Ram Power Snares for Yotes?

I picked up a Wolf Master ram snare. I wanted the #2 size but the place I shop at I was lucky they even had that. The #2 goes up to a 12 inch loop and the Wolf Master goes down to a 12 inch loop so i figured i would be ok with that. I blocked off a small area with square bales in the bush across from the driveway where we dump all our table scraps. I left a 2 foot opening for the yote to walk through with the snare set about a foot off the ground. No luck yet but I'm not sure if my Dad is checkin the trap for me faithfully. i have never heard of the collar um trap but i will look into them also for future reference.
