RE: what kind of guns do you guys use on squirrel?
I got my first squirrel(two actually) on Saturday with my 12 guage.
I was actually rabbit/bird hunting but the dog jumped some deer and took off to god knows where so we sat down for awhile to wait for it to come back. Never came back that day though, but the next day we were able to find the dog.
I dunno what to say about the shot gun. The first one I shot at about 30-35 yards and it fell down but got back up and was going nuts trying to climb a little tree for a good 30 seconds so I walked up to it and it fell on the ground so I stepped on its head. The second one was about 20 yards and it died instantly. Not sure how the pellets affect the meat though as my buddy took the squirrels. If your a shakey shot like me, shotgun might be best, who knows it seemed to get the job done.

I always use my .410 with 3" #6 shot. A buddy of mine said that this would only serve to wound the squirrels but I have never had that happen to me. Picking shot out of the meat is a potential problem hence the reason why a .22 is a good option as well. Depends on your personal preference as to which one you think is better to shoot.

10/22 with 3-12 but mine isn't very accurate (sorry to all the 10/22 but it just isn't)
Remington S-581 bolt .22 ( i "think" its a S-581) open sights
Fox Model B 12gauge SxS with 6s
I'll be the first to admit I pretty much suck at tree rattin' but its F-U-N!!!

I use a remington 550-1 semiauto .22 with some ole crappy scope that I plan to replace some time in the near future. I've tried a 880 powerline daisy pellet gun rated at 670 fps...and while it took the squirrel down, he flopped around quite a bit...even after a few more close shots....some on here have used .177 caliber pellet guns without any problem, but I'll stick with my .22....clean...and over quick!! I have more range too..
