knifeless skinning method
 

a friend of mine told me he rather gut 5 deer than 1 rabbit, so i figured there had to be an easier way to skin one. here is what i found from a book from like 1976:

1) grab the rabbit at the bottom of the ribs and squeeze all the guts toward the anus. the body will be like 2x the normal size

2) stand with your legs spread shoulder width and hold the rabbit above your head with the head facing foward and right side up.

3) swing the rabbit as hard as you can downward until your arms hit your thighs and the guts will shoot out of the rear end. now, you have a field dressed rabbit

the pictures of this process are absolutely hillarious. just figured i would let u guys in on a secret. wonder if my brother will let me practice on his pet rabbit? gotta go.

i have heard this for years,but have never had anyone show me how they did it.

I have done this twice.. once justin a swift downward motion, which scatered innards from just in front me to 30 foot behind.. the second time I swung like at a softball. An idea of the results? lets just say it is one way to lose friends when they get soaked with the contents. <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

If I'm going to eat my rabbits, I'll do a few things. First, have a canteen of water to wash them out in case you rupture the innards with the shot, secondly, I case skin (cut around the ankles and down the leg on the tail side of the anus, then peel the skin back like a sock, pulling it inside out on the way down.) I get that up past the bottom of the ribcage, then open the abdominal wall and pull out the entrails, more or less like F.d.ing deer. That swinging them around crap always leaves me with a bunch of their crap inside them, and a BIG mess on the outside.
