Coyote Hunting - Where to start?

I've hunted many animals, but I have never hunted exclusively for coyotes. I would like to start. But where do you start. So not to be vague, below are some topics I need some info on.

-Best time of year to hunt
-Best time of day to hunt
-Ideal coyote hunting day (weather)
-calls that work (electronic vs. mouth operated)
-set up
-locating
-books or websites devoted to coyote hunting (IMPORTANT, that way I won't have to bother you all with posts)
-anything else you think I might be missing or that you think is important to know

I hunt in KY. Coyotes are open year-round, not sure if we can hunt them at night though. I don't think we can.

I apologize for the lengthy question, but I just really don't know where to begin.

BipNelly,

Go do a search for Varmit Al & read his webpage, it is exactly what you're looking for.

The only other thing that I think would help out the beginner would be to rent/buy a good calling video, or two, and watch/listen and learn. There is no better way to learn then to see and hear how it is done. You don't have to sound exactly like what you may hear on a video, but learn the cadense and come close to the sounds you hear and that will help you get started. I'd suggest any of Randy Anderson's videos, the Vermintator video or either of Byron South's video.
When you watch a video, also pay attention to the body language of the predator's. Learning the body language will be a big asset for ya when you have one coming your way. It will give you an edge on when and how to stop the predator for the shot, and when to take the shot.
Calling predators really is the easy part, getting them killed is the hard part. Good luck!
