will this hurt my gun?

i have a gamo hunter 220 and a shadow 1000. i was wondering if it is ok to cock and load these guns and then wait 5 o 10 minutes to shoot it. i know that is not recommended with pump air rifles, and i am not sure about these... it just seems like everytime i find something to shoot, by the time i take out a pellet, cok it and aim, it has ran or flown off! thanks...

I am not expert but I heard it should be ok, but the spring will wear if its cocked for long periods of time ie: weeks

durr of course how are you gonna sit in the woods with it not cocked, then here comes a squirrel or sumthing and now you have to break the barrel, put your pellet in, and then aim, shoot. of course its fine.

BTW i have a Gamo Youth Hunter 640

Yes, I once saw a report and it takes about 3 days for anything to happen, and when it does, you only lose like 2 fps.

you can carry it cocked with no damaged. unlike a pump up bb gun. with a pump up you have presser on your seals after the first pump. with yours you only have presser after you pull the trigger. after days and days it may weaken your spring alittle but thats about it. :)

i have three shotguns, but it's frowned upon to shoot those in my neighorhood! i am talking backyard hunting... if i were going into the woods i would take a shotgun, or a .22....
