Is a slug gun a good choice for coyote hunting? Or would i be better off with buckshot? I would prefer going with the knock down power of the slug. But i am brand new to coyote hunting so i would like your input. I dont have a rifle either.

Hell, I use a 20 ga. with #6 shot since i have a bunch of it just sittin around. A couple guys I go with use 10ga. I guess it depends if you want to have a big hole in the fur.

We use 12 guage 3 inch lead BB's here in Pennsy. Buckshot would be our preference, but it's illegal for coyotes here. A slug will put an awful big whole in one side of them and pretty much ruin the mount/skin/rug if that's what your interested in. I've found the 22mag to be too littl gun the 223, 22 250, etc to be good but even they will sometimes leave a damaging exit whole. Rifles depend more on the type of bullet used and I don't have any expertise in that area. I buy what's on the shelf. Good luck, Juniorpc.
