RE: longest groundhog shot
Around 400 yds.! Summer of 1980, with my Ruger 77 .220 swift. My buddy and I were having a contest to see who was the best long range shot. No one had range finders back then, so we had 2 other guys step off the distance; all four of us came up with pretty much the same distance. Two days later my buddy used that same rifle to shoot a chuck 30 yards farther than the one I shot (approx. 430 yds.). Not to be outdone with my own weapon, I shot a cardinal off of the dirt mound in front of the hole where I shot my chuck at 400 yds.! I couldn't do that again now if I were paid to do it! I gotta admit, I was one heck of a shot in my younger days.

i've never even seen a groundhog.
but...when i was about 10 years old i killed a starling.
with a pellet gun.
a daisy 881, the kind you can pump up to 10 times.
it was at least 150+ yards away.
