leave or stay after a shot ?
 

I was calling tonite and had one come in after 2 mins, shot it at 25 yds. It was about an hour before dark, I stayed and tried till dark without seeing any more. I did have responses to howling. Do you move to a different area once you have fired a shot or stay and try for more?

WHERE I USED TO YOTE HUNT AFTER YOU SHOT THEYWOULD ALL RUNAWAY ECEPT FOR THE ONE I KILLED, SO I WOULD PACK UP AND MOVE ANY WHERE FORM 50 TO 200 YARDS AWAY AND START CALLING AGAIN.

If i've only been on a stand for a short time say 10 minutes or so and make a kill I will continue to call for at least another 10 minutes. After that I would move to another site. Coyotes as a rule, once they commet to your calling come pretty quick. I think your just burning daylight waiting for an hour especially after firing a shot.

Have to go with Prob- on this one . If we shoot we move and set-up again .

I agree. You don't have to move far, necessarily. You just have to change the location of the sound.

If I've been on a stand for over 10 minutes and shoot a coyote, I'll move to my next stand (after I look around with my bino's).

If I kill one in the first 10 min I keep on calling.

I very seldom stay longer than 15 minutes on a stand unless I see or hear something.

If the situation arises that I kill one within the first 5 minutes, I stay on stand for at least another 10 minutes, have had several times, that after getting a quick one shot kill, kept calling and had another yote come to the same location.Sometimes, if you've ever hit one and it started howling, whining and caring on, I imatate that sound after the kill, and have had other coyotes come to check out the "dead" coyote.It certainly doesn't always work, but it has and will again.

I stay and keep calling. I've gotten coyotes & foxes (especially foxes) to come to the same stand after shooting.
