Getting started..
 

OK, gents get me started in this yote hunting. What'll I need? I'm off to get a yote howler tomorrow. What's a good one?

Give me a good scenario on how to set up, calls to make what to expect.

I've fox hunted before with the squealing rabbit and woodpecker tapes. Should I use them also?

We'll be using a two man setup, 1 with a shotgun and 1 with a 22-250.

Sounds like you are all set with your fox equipment. I'd practice with the howler before you try to use it. But, I'd just use the fox stuff. You'll bring in the coyotes!

ostdc said it all the fox stuff with bring in a yote. Practice with the howler,e Crit'r calls makes a howler. Rich Cronk make a call but its hand crafted so it takes a little bit to make it but i hear there are the best. they are 55 bucks. gOdd luck man.

with cyclone, im going to try yotes this year. i would like a call, but not sure what to try. something simple. what are they called... wounded rabbit or whatever. also have cats in the area, what would they respond to?

Guys a cottontail in distress call will work great for yotes. They might work for kitties Nas, but they will be a lot more causous.

Guys, the best advice I can give you is go and go often. AS far as what calls to use, most, if not all the different calls on the market made by reputable call makers will call coyotes. Try a few and stick with the ones that works the best for you. As far as what sounds to make, just make it sound like something is hurting. Everone has their own calling style and you will develope yours. This really isn't rocket science, it's just a matter of doing it and doing it enough until you find something that works for you. The main thing is don't get discourged if nothing happens the first time you go. Keep at it and good things will happen.

HI GUYS, I AM ALSO JUST GETTINIG SSTARTED HUNTING YOTES. A FRIEND AND I BOUGTH A ELE. CALLER WENT OUT THE OTHER DAY, WITH NO LUCK. HOW LONG DO YOU LET THE TAPES RUN AND HOW LONG DUE YOU STAY IN 1 LOCATION. THANKS

Just started last year. Seems like the bluejays arrive first, then the hawks and crows, then the foxes and housecats, and once in a great while a coyote. Good luck.
