Bullet Proof Rabbit?!?!?!?!?
 

hey all heres what happened.....

i went out yesterday a couple hours be4 sunset to check my dads trail timer for deer since i got home early from work and i took my single shot 12g with a full choke (remi 870 super mag is gettin refinished due to gun solvent problem [X(] ) so i took a handful of #2' s and #4' s incase i saw a jackrabbit or cottontail....

so as i was gettin close to the huge pile of garbage and brush i noticed a cottontail walkin into the pile....so i went right to where he went in and kicked him out and waited till he got 17-18 yards away and i shot....it was a complete broadside shot and the shot looked perfect and right after the shot he went rolling and kicking his legs...so i started to make my way over to him but when i got there he was gone!!!

so just think....17 yards away with a full choke 12gauge #2' s....shouldnt he be in my freezer? i could see clearly on the ground where he slid while rolling and the little sticks and stuff that was hit by pellets all around him....

after crawling on my hands and knees for over 45 minutes i ddint find a single drop of blood nor could me and my dog kick him outta anymore brush piles!!

so...WTH happened? lol....i could tell by how the pellets hit the ground that he got hit with at least 1/4 of the pellets....

anybody ever had this happen to them be4?

PS. if i would had my 870 i coulda shot him again while he was rolling and put him down for good!

lol, sounds like some of the pheasants weve shot at, 8 guys shot at least 1 shot apiece at 1 bird on 2 diff. occasions and we all missed. but ya ive had that problem with rabits too

Might of gone to ground, you hit him good, but no golden pellet today.

I think you might have missed the shot and the sound and the pellets flying by him just dazed him, kind of like if you get hit in the back of the head really hard and start seeing stars.

I shot a mallard one time with 2s, saw the whole shot pattern strike water all around him. Never seen such a perfect centered pattern around a a bird like that. He didn' t even break stride. There must have been a perfect drake shaped hole in that pattern.

lol its funny you say that i was squirrel hunting today and i shot at a squirrel and the branch fell out of the tree he was in and he and the branch hit the ground from at least 50ft. so i thought i had em went over there branch laying dead but no dead squirrel how could that many pellets land on the branch he was laying on but none hit him it just doesnt make any sense. OH WELL BETTER LUCK NEXT TIME!!

My brother and i have the same problem sometimes. You will find hair and the thing will be a rollin' but they can crawl off somewhere and die where you'll never find them.:)
