Coyote baiting and calling

Hello everyone,
I’m new to coyote hunting and was wondering if my call has to match the bait I’m using.
(Example, if I’m using rabbit for bait do I have to use a rabbit in distress call). Thank you for any help.

I don't think it makes a difference.

It doesn’t make a difference. Coyotes are not scholars, they’re simply predators. I’ve killed hundreds of coyotes over dead cattle using rabbit distress sounds.

Yotes and Fox are as much scavengers as predators. The stinkier the better. I've had good luck taking a post-hole digger with me and digging a few 18 inch deep holes and tossing some offal in there. If they don't find it today they will eventually and if you periodically refresh the bait they will keep on visiting that spot. Yotes know their territory and don't often randomly wander, they are going from one good hunting spot to the next.
