2019 squirrel contest

Alright, time to sign up, set teams, and start posting pictures.

2018 was a good year for the contest, although slower than previous years. Let's grow bigger this year. Get your squirrel hunting friends involved as well.

We have some members with almost year around squirrel seasons. . The contest will run until the end of the year, and next January we will start the new years contest. Anyone can sign up anytime. We had allot of squirrels entered in this past contest, allot of participation. Hope to see another good year here. Invite your friends.

Same as before, Any DEAD (ALLEYYOOPER will personally inspect each squirrel to ensure that it has in fact ceased to be alive.... )Squirrel, by any legal methods. Post a picture of your squirrel, preferably with gun/bow for it to be counted. If you need to skin them before you can get a picture, just post the skinned ones. As more sign up, I'll add them to the teams!

Also If anyone has youth hunters that are not members of the site, but would like to be in the contest, just Pm me and we'll add them with you on your team. We've had this in the past a few times and have had some PMs asking about it.

-Jake

Sign me up!

LONGHUNTER1750 01-06-2019 01:54 PM

Come on fellas, it's gettin' lonely at the top, I know I'm not the only dedicated squirrel hunter on here.

john1984 02-16-2019 05:28 PM

Sign me up please. I am planning on hunting a new public property this year. It has some hickory trees so I'm assuming it has fox squirrels. I havnt shot a fox squirrel in years.

Bocajnala 02-16-2019 05:34 PM

Got y'all added.

GOOD OLE BOY 02-17-2019 11:28 AM

I just found out about these contests.I would have strongly considered signin up but our season only has 2 weeks left and nobody wanted to answer any of my questions on the Turkey thread so I figure their is no use.No wonder everyone is moanin about reduced activity on this site when no-one even bothers to answer a members question about a contest.

Bocajnala 02-17-2019 11:41 AM

If you read the post you'll see this contest goes until December 31st, 2019.

There's plenty of time for you to join and contribute.

-Jake

GOOD OLE BOY 02-18-2019 12:01 PM

I seen that and figured it must be for the next season cause like I said this season is winding down and I would think a contest would run from the seasons beginning till end.Not jump from one season to another.

Bocajnala 02-18-2019 12:12 PM

As it says in the post.....

There are members with almost year round seasons.

This is not a contest for your squirrel season, or any specific states season. It's for the year of 2019 and any legal seasons that occur within the year.

Would you like added?

-Jake

Be kind of hard to do seeing as not everyone's season opens or closes at the same time. Mine just ended three days ago and wont start again till May and some seasons wont open again till fall.

GOOD OLE BOY 02-18-2019 02:32 PM

That,s why I didn,t understand it LH. That,s what I was tryin to figger out on the Turkey thread that I couldn,t get a answer to.Thanks for respondin.I,ll go back and reread some stuff like Boca recommended.

Some folks got way shorter seasons than others also which kind of makes it lopsided too, but hey! it's just for fun.

Bocajnala 02-18-2019 07:12 PM

Some of us are just too lazy to get out and get them to lol

Tough to find time with working and young kids at home.

It's all for fun though. In my young single days I could have given longhunter a run for his money

jrbsr 02-19-2019 09:11 AM

Add me,
Maybe I can be able to get in the woods.

LONGHUNTER1750 06-01-2019 06:52 AM

Season has been open for a week but this morning was my first chance to go as all my hunting spots have been flooded. Dont know what team I am on but here is my first kill of the season, only one I saw this morning. Not real proud of the shot, but it was from about 60 yards with a revolver.

Bocajnala 06-01-2019 07:37 AM

That's danged fine shooting with a revolver!

What state are you in again?

Missouri! Squirrel hunting paradise. most of the time.

Bocajnala 06-01-2019 07:47 AM

Sure seems like it. Although hunting this time of year would produce allot of sweat for me.

i do enjoy the cool mornings that I typically hunt in Ohio and PA

It was really nice out this morning with a cool breeze, really surprised I didn't see more squirrels.

I call it my auction purchased $45.00 Stevens sniper .22. Was missing the firing pin but those can be purchased and fitted by old men like me. As everyone will know these were not designed for scope mounting but that can also be overcome with a little ingenuity.

It has the worst trigger ever but I don't see a - worst trigger ever - contest. lol - But it will take a red squirrel laying on his belly licking mineral from gravel @ 80 yards with a .22 short hollow. Don't be concerned about this old man damaging the value by re- finishing the wood and I did make a wooden butt plate that the factory didn't deem necessary.

Hultage 06-02-2019 11:10 PM

I should really try my skill and join a similar contest.

Bocajnala 06-02-2019 11:59 PM

Senior and hultage if y'all want in just say the word.

I'm in on the 2019 squirrel contest and thanks, but whether I'll still be around at years end will largely be determined whether I can decipher the maze of the forum operation. When my recent posts can't appear on page 1 while there are some on page 1 that's 3 days old and I get a note from admins reading - QUOTE: "Thank you for posting! Your post will not be visible until a moderator has approved it for posting" this isn't very encouraging. So to locate my post if I need to edit I must go do a search to find it. Sure hope it gets better.

LONGHUNTER1750 06-03-2019 11:21 AM

Three more for team two.

Bocajnala 06-03-2019 12:21 PM

Senior,

Got you added. I approved your post less than two hours after posting. That's not bad for volunteer mods.

That is in place to prevent spam. Which for some reason has been an ongoing problem on this forum. The approve posts feature has been very useful in keeping spam off the forum pages.

Any time you need to view something that you posted, just click on your own name and then hit "view all posts by" or " view all threads started by"

And all of your posts appear.

Welcome to the forum and welcome to the squirrel contest!

OK, now I understand. I'm accustomed to DIY forums where I may need an answer while the wife holds her thumb over a leaking pipe.lol

I forgot about the L4-L5 herniated disc, and the 3 to 4 bulging discs.
Boy are they letting me know they are still there today.
