Bobcat sets

I know that many of you are much more skilled than I, so I have come for your advice. I live in central Pennsylvania and own a farm in centre county. Our farm is loaded with bobcats, I make mainly dirt hole sets and don’t seem to get much interest. Although I had a claw in one of my traps and had another set off with nothing to show for it. It gets frustrating knowing that you educated two critters. Any help on different kinds of sets would be appreciated. Thanks

I’ll try to help. I catch lots of cats and coyotes every year, it’s actually part of my job. The one thing I’ve noticed about cats is they don’t seem to use their noses as much as other predators. They like eye appeal. I like to hang a feather or some video cassettes tape above my set, not much just enough to be noticed. Also, cats will walk inside borders. You can run sticks from your dirt hole out and make that cat step on the pan if he wants a look. If you’ve been having some misses, it could be a trap bedding issue. You’ve got to make sure the trap doesn’t shift. Hope this helps.
