New Rifle

I am thinking about buying a new rifle, (know nothing about rifles, but have shotguns, and muzzleloaders)It would be mainly used for coyotes, which I have never hunted. I would like to stick with a .223, and nothing real spend. What are your suggestions for a .223?

I guess the question is how often will you hunt. From a bargain standpoint, Savage, Remington, and Mossberg have some nice scope + rifle combos that are accurate---not even close to heirloom quality, but practical and reliable.

Probably won’t get used very often. Just for yotes. I was actually looking at the Savage Axis .223

A Savage Axis in 223 would be a very accurate rifle and one of the less expensive choices as some of them even come with an inexpensive scope as a combo deal. Since you're not planning on using it very often, you wouldn't have a huge amount of money tied up in a rifle/scope combo that sits in the safe a lot. And if you get hooked on the sport, it's still a very accurate and lethal rifle & caliber that's almost tailor made for yote hunting and has fairly inexpensive ammunition if you don't reload.

Thanks Cal! And thanks for the PM!

Remington 700 ADL from Walmart or Savage 12 FV from Cabelas. Get in for around $400, less on sales or rebates.
