Florida Coyote Hunting

I'm new to this forum and just posted another thread about Coyote hunting in Kansas but I am also interested in doing it here in Florida as well.

I am retired and have been hunting pretty much all my life mostly hogs and deer. I am however interested in Florida Coyotes. problem is, there seems to be a dearth of information as to where, when and how to do it. I know, from reading, there is a serious and growing problem with them here in Florida and they are doing severe damage to the deer herd as well as lots of damage to cattle ranches. Hunting for them in the Florida WMAs doesn't seem to be much of an option either.

So, if anyone knows someone who knows someone I can contact please let me know. A good outfitter would be OK but I would really like to find someone with a nuisance and help get rid of it. (I know, I know, that's a real long shot) :) I am retired so my hunting schedule is very flexible and only complicated by my fishing schedule.

Thanks in advance,
Bob

I was hearing coyotes closer to my home than I cared to have them. Having a few friends who also didn't have a lovable relationship with coyotes either we set out Right here at home and did well. Then one day one of my friends was at the mill getting some feed ground for his horses heard a couple farmers talking about coyotes in his feed lot.
John volunteered our services to help rid the problem and we have at least 5 farmers call us every year asking for us to come see what we can do, all word of mouth.

So I recommend you start knocking on farm house doors and asking about hunting coyotes on the farm. Many farmers will let some one hunt coyotes that wouldn't even think about allowing you to hunt deer.
there is a learning curve even if you start out with a E caller.

Ive seen coyote on public land here in FL. unfortunately I was ill prepared for them. E callers on public land may be touchy depending on the wma as rules vary on each. What part of FL are You talking about?

E-Callers and recorded calls of any kind are prohibited in any of the WMAs I know anything about. Plus, you have to leave no later than 1/2 hour after sunset. No night gun hunting.

I'm retired to willing to travel to any part of the state for a good hunting area. Just need to get to know some folks that know what they are doing so I can watch and learn. :)
