220 Swift will reach em and smash em flat.

Your .220 swift was built for that kind of work !

However, the .7MM -08 would be appropriate, if you are taking long shots on a regular basis in strong winds and don't care about the pelts.

imo coyotes are a vermin that need to be eraticated by whatever means possible i regularly hunt'em with an ought six so just use what you have at the time..plus those bugers can be tough to kill sometimes i knew a guy who shot one with a 50 cal muzzleloader goes up to see if its dead and the thing jumps up and runs..we call it zombie coyote happy0157:

I use a 220 Swift and it is good medicine to make a coyote a good one. It will reach out a very long way. How ever if the wind is much over 5 MPH you best know the round you are using well. I would take the 7MM08 in a wind 10MPH and over.

The .220 Swift is the best choice out of the larger Calibers You mentioned.

Once You get into Coyote/Predator Hunting and decide You want to have a Coyote,Fox or Bobcat mounted You'll find a lighter caliber Gun is the route to take in doing less hide/fur damage or if You give the Predators away to a Trapper that will take the time to skin them out and sell the hides then less damage is what You should strive for.

A lighter weight bullet will go faster and shoot flatter at longer distances and a bullet like a V-max or ballistic tip bullet should be easier on the hides!

220 swift!!! cheaper to reload as well. Use a fmj and pelts should be o.k. except they are or have been rubbing for some time!!! Either way, knock em flat!!!!! I hit one with 180 gr 30-378 and he was only put together by one ligament. Only rifle with me at the time. Have fun if your out calling!!!
