Best Coyote Time

I am new to Coyote hunting. I have many questions. My brothers and I have tried night hunting with spotlights but haven't had much success. We would like to try to hunt them in the daylight with rifles rather than shotguns. What is the best time of day to Hunt??? We live in Ohio, so anytime is legal.

Night is usually most productive, dusk and dawn being second most. That's not to imply that you can't ever call in a coyote between 10am and 2pm though. The twilight as the sun is rising or setting is usually the most productive "daylight" time for coyotes.

Can't argue with that advise. Also right before a storm blows in is a great time.

Remember, We shoot the dumb ones during the daylight hours.

That is to say, those that didn't "score" in the darkness and don't want to go to bed hungry.

So, if you are like me and prefer to shoot them during the daylight hours; the morning is the most productive.

I also do well at dusk when I set-up over a carcass or during calving (still these are the hungry ones who can't stay in their bed until darkness).

Thanks everyone! And Sheridan, I would prefer to shoot them during the daylight. Reason is that in the daylight I can use my rifle but at night I will have to stick to the shotgun. I don't use night vision because it is expensive. We have used spotlights.

Ive gotten all mine before 10 am. They are more vocal at dusk but have never been able to call one in at that time.

We're not allowed to use spotlights or night vision scopes to hunt Predators at night in Missouri...we can hunt in the light of the Moon preferably when it snows to see better.I hunt mostly in the early mornings and had the best luck in the first light up to about 3 hours of hunting....then the last 2-3 hours of the day until dark!if it's good and cold I've had Coyotes move at all hours in the Winter time!
