Default eeccomend ammo/grains for new rifle, 1in 14 twist

I want to try 3 or 4 boxes of ammo in my new rifle....... its a Browning X-Bolt Varmit 22-250. it has a 26" barrel and a 1 in 14 twist rate. I don't know if a 1 in 14 twist should have a lighter and heavier bullet.

I bought a box of Winchester VarmintX 55 grain polymer tip.

What are a couple more you could recommend me trying?

I shoot a 220 Swift ( slow twist as most are), but Hornady 50 gr Vmax rounds have served me very well. Now days trying different ammo is akin to taking a second mortgage out to fund.
.
I'd try (one at a time) stuff tween 45-55 gr ( blanket statement ). Find one that delivers and stop there, unless yer independently wealthy.

Good luck !

With a 1:14" twist, even with a .22-250, you'll want to look for lighter bullet weights, like 45-55grn ballpark mentioned earlier. 1:14" is a slow twist, so you need a high velocity to make up some stability.

for the polymer tipped bullets a 55 is about the limit length wise, 60's are iffy, nosler just came out with a bonded 22 64 gr I believe that is short and blunt to stabilize in a 14 twist 22-250 if you wanted to hunt larger game.
as far as lead tipped bullets about any up to the 63 sierra and and the 64 gr Winchester power point will do well depending on how well your rifle likes them.

Well I was able to shoot a box of some Winchester Varnmit X 55 grain polymer tip rounds..... can't complain..... 100yds 3/4" group .... 200 yards about 2" group and I took 3 shots at 300 yds for fun... about 3" group..... not bad for the first 20 rounds.
Very happy.... need to get a couple more boxes thru it!!

Thanks
