its also a good idea to use a schapel or EXACTO instead of a knife. i didnt know if this went without saying or if i should throw it in. you really dont need a 6" folder to skin a 8 inch squirrel

I have tried the cut tail method and had other people show me how they do it and have had people do it the cut tail way and I do it my way and I always get finished first.

I guess I cut to much;because the tail always pulls off.

Yeah, I just shot a big fox squirrel last Saturday and tried the cut tail method, and had my dad show me the cut tail method, but guess I need a little more practice cause I pulled the tail off. I spent the next hour pulling hair off it.

check out : http://conservation.state.mo.us and then search in their box for " cleaning squirrels" . They have an excellent article on how to do so.

eh there boys let me tell u the canadian " fast" way of cleaning a squirrel.....

if u can....soak it with water first in a puddle, pond, wutever (best to clean while they warm) and then just pinch its hide right at its spine just behind its front legs and cut through the hide making a hole big enough for u to get 2 fingers in from each hand...

0 <---head
|
\/
| <----make cut through hide here
|
|
/\
|
|

then all ya gotta do is pull with one hand towards its head and the other towards its ass until the hide is to its legs then ya just gotta pull the hide of its legs, break the joints of each foot, cut off the feet, tail and head.....

then just split the pelvic bone (bone between its back legs) cut up to the breast bone and rip out all the guts....no need to dull yer knife cuttin through its ribs as u can pull its heart, lung and esophugus out anyways...

BAM!

yer done.....no need to finess with the cut tail way or any other way....

good luck and lemme know how it works for ya
