RE: Trapping...where to begin?
To tell you the truth the easiest animals to trap are the ones you would least like to have. I am located in the central part of OKlahoma and the three easiest animals that I have found to trap was racoons, skunks, and opossums. I mostly use dead ducks for bait and hang them in the back of a live box trap. We make all our own traps but it will be difficult to tell you exactly how we do it. You can find them on the internet(like ebay or certain websites) or in some hunting stores. I would find well used trails in a low area like a draw or creek. A water crossing is a prime spot for trapping animals or a trail through a fence line. We always cover the back of the trap with cedar limbs so that the animal won' t try to get to the bait through the back of the cage. A good way to find ducks is to ask any waterfowl hunter for the breasted out duck and they will usually be more than happy to give them to you. But if you can' t get access to any, canned sardines are also a good bait. Just buy them for about 50 to 75 cents a can. The reason I rather use ducks rather than sardines is b/c we have had better luck catching more bobcats and not the other varments on them. With sardines you will catch more coons, skunks, and opossums.Well i hope I haven' t rambled on too long, if I have I am sorry. But I do hope I have given you some helpful advice. Good luck!!!
