Default dressing a squirrel

how soon after i kill a squirrel should i field dress it? is it okay to put them in a cheesecloth bag and continue to hunt a couple hours then do it? or should i dress them right then and there then do what with it? is it ok to at least skin them right then and put them in a bag? not sure what the best thing to do if i plan on hunting all day

depends on temp. nice and cold, no worries, go all morning hunting, clean all at once...if its warm, kill a few, stop by a stream clean a few, get it on ice soon.

ive never really worried over a couple hours regardless of the temp. Ive gotten home and its dark and cold and left them all night to dress out the next day and no problems there either.

With squirrels I've never worried much. I do my hunt, andwhen I'm done a clean whatever I got. I suppose it'd be better to be worried about it, but I just can't. I throw them in my vest, and when I'm done, I'm done.

I'll kill a mess, then collect and clean them. This may be an hour or three or more. Never thought much of immediately cleaning them.

They cool quick being small. I think that's more important than the idea of cleaning them quick.
