Hunting wooded areas is a lot harder and a lot different than the open areas out west. I found hunting out west is a lot easier, because you can see them at a distance and gage your calling to repond to the coyote's reactions. Here in the Ozarks is mostly timber and we don't usually see coyotes come out in the open. I usually don't see any further than 50 yards most the time, so I try and listen to the other wildlife to let me know if there are coyotes close. Here is a good web site to get you started: http://easterncoyotes.com/

We've been using the Cottontail Rabbit in distress calls and a Coyote Howler/Bark call. Some times its best to sit quietly in an area and watch patiantly if the Coyotes are Call Shy and have had everything thrown at them all winter, other times they are hungry and can come right in to a call?

We've had great luck sitting along field edge's by Cattle Pastures and watching the open fields and wooded area's.Main thing is to go out and watch for signs and listen for the Coyotes to howl and bark in the late evenings and right at dark to see where they seem to be moving and grouping up.
