Need some advice.

Ok so when i go camping or just walking into the woods I always carry some sort of firearm on me for protection. Around my area there are bob cats, a few black bear and some people say that they have seen mountain lions, which i highly doubt the later. The gun i usually carry is one of my 12 ga. shotguns and some high brass #6 shot and i was wondering if this would actually protect me from any of those animals, i understand that at 25 yards or so it probably wouldn't but how about close range? say 5 or 10 yards?

So it would actually bring down a black bear and mountain lion? i actually would have never guessed that.

WNYhunter 01-12-2012 02:48 PM

yea I don't think you would have a problem. Just hope you never have to find out.

Love the discription !!! :lolabove:

Haven't heard that expression in years !!!

If it didn't kill the bear it could blind him for sure. ;)

For up close, that'd put a hurting on anything! Most of those things listed don't really present any danger though! But I'd say the set-up is sufficient!

Re: Need some advice

I would hope you use a combination of firearm and ammo that was designed for the application described.

1. Your "12ga., what was it designed for? Birds, self defense, combat, breaching, competition.........?

2. 2/34 #6 12 Ga. shells are designed for upland game hunting.

If you insist on packing your 12Ga. (possibly heavy and cumbersome) on a woods walk, for self defense, why not use shells made for it?

3. OO Buck is designed for self defense and will give you much better range than 5 Yrds.
