Squirrel in the hood
I didn' t believe what i saw this morning. I live well in the city limits so this was a shocking moment for me. I went outside in the backyard to get the trash to take out the curb, and right there, in my own backyard was a squirrel. I was hoping it would still be there within a few minutes so i ran into the house, got my bow and went outside and it was gone. Talk about a cruel pratical joke lol. Has this ever happened to anyone else before?[X(]

RE: Squirrel in the hood
There have been many squirrels in my backyard. Maybe that' s because I live in the country though, eh? Just so you know, I feel very sorry for you. A hunter who lives in the city is a depressing thing. Good luck with that squirrel! [:-]

Small world or too large?
I can' t believe hearing someone saying " I seen a squirrel in my yard today" . I leave the house every morning, and there is anywhere from 6 to 10 squirrels running around my neighborhood. I see fox squirrels, eastern grey squirrels, and a ton of the black phase, or melanistic grey squirrels. It must be a larger world than I thought. I talk to people that have been in or hunted or fished the same waters, or woods I hunt. and speak to them in a totally different state, only to say it' s a small world. Then I hear people say they never seen, or Mike how rare are the black squirrels. Rare! they' re more common than the grey squirrels, here where I live. I guess you never know eh.

RE: Squirrel in the hood
Before we got married, my wife rented a house in Silver Spring, Maryland. There are black squirrels running around everywhere in that neighborhood!

RE: Squirrel in the hood
Ain' t that the truth!
There are so many tree rats around here that they gang up on the cats in the neighborhood. 3-5 of them will go after cats in my neighborhood. If it weren' t for their stupidity around moving vehicles, we would be knee deep in them. Of course they aren' t part of the food chain for most people around here. A hunter who lives in the city is a depressing thing. |
RE: Squirrel in the hood
When it comes to squirrels around the house, I consider myself a population reduction specialist. Aroud the house they are more of a pest than an invited guest. They like to make holes in the eves of the roof and get into the attic. I try to keep them in check with a trusty old Daisey pellet gun.

RE: Squirrel in the hood
Always seeing squirrels intown, especial by the courthouse (pay my internet right beside it). My wife works in a housing addition always a bunch of greys running around the houses there also. Most people dont bother them in town so there only real threat is car' s and cats.

RE: Squirrel in the hood
Im living on campus at Miami University, and there are squirrels everywhere you look! I would love to take out my .22 or pellet gun and blast a few, but that might not go over so well. Maybe i could get by with setting a few traps:D
