tonights mistake...
 

Actually the mistake was made prior to tonight when I neglected to properly clean my shotgun. It's a Marlin 55 12ga. bolt action. From being out in the snow/rain a few times I didnt wipe the gun down. Tonight I could tell that the bolt was a little stiff. I had a yote at 40 yds. then CLICK! re**** it- CLICK!re**** it - CLICK! By then he turned tail and was gone.I was thoroughly upset with myself. It was only the second yote I've seen all season.

you dont take care of your gun, and it wont take care of you. i was out coyote hunting and while i had my gun slung over my back, i slipped and fell on it. knocked the scope around a little. next time i was out, i had a textbook coyote hunt, except i didnt re-sightin my rifle... shot left about 2ft..

So very true! I'd been so concentrated on just getting out there and making stands that I didnt take care of the most important "tool" in my arsenal. I've since had the gun apart and thoroughly cleaned it. That sucks about yer' scope! Just glad thats all that happened. We gotta' be safe out there! I hunt alone and I take all the steps to hunt safely. I also tell my fiance where I'm gonna be hunting. Good hunting! Take care
