Default Predator calling

I am going wilderness lake fishing around Aug 10th. I have a bear and cougar tag. I bought a " gravity doe bleat" call. It is a little can that you tip upside down and it makes a perfect doe/fawn bleat.

Anyways, I am going to give my try to get some predators in. Do any of you have any tips on calling them in. I am going to pick up a few more predator calls like a rabbit call and a baby bear call.

What calls have you had success with?

What hours of the day are best?

I saw the baby bear call in G.I. joes. It mimicks a lost bear cub call. I don' t want momma to come running. I would rather shoot a boar but I know that it isn' t easy to tell the difference but seems that mamma is what would come running. Unless a boar wants to kill off the cubs? Any ideas?

Default RE: Predator calling

hunting large predators is very simalar to any other kind of predator huntin but with one big exception, that big predator just might get that rabbit.big cats (as with any cat)are stalkers-sneakers.give them some time to responed keeping a keen eye for the slightest movment around bushes, trees and rocks..in cat counrty never sit at the base of rock out cropings or any other place they can come in above you.never hunt alone, you and a partner sit back to back so as to cover 360 degree area.allowing large predators to come in on your blind side can be dangerous and deadly.bears will apear to be rooting around but will make a deliberate line to your position.bears also require some time to responed, they can come slow and very cautious.always use the wind to your advantage for both animals.that time of year first and last light will be best, especialy if its hot during the middle of the day.night time hunting these critters isn' t recomended.as far as calls go,any call will work it all depends on your ability to work the call and if they have ever been worked with it before.rabbit, bear cub, fawn, kitten, bird, bring as many different ones as you can.as in any kind of predator huntin, what works today may not work tommorrow.have fun,be safe and let folks here know how the trip turns out.
