Question Jan-Feb Squirrel Hunting?

Since deer season ended Jan 1 for us I've been hitting the woods for some squirrel hunting & in the past two Saturdays haven't seen a single tree rat but while during deer season they seemed to be everywhere? To be fair though, the first Saturday we had wind that varied from 8-20mph so I know that didn't do me any favors then today the snow from last Monday was just now melting & the ground was still covered with frozen snow so again I believe that hurt my chances.

So is the weather messing with the squirrels that much or are squirrels still active this late in squirrel season?

well from my experiance them things are always out when the weather is alright, but high winds would probly keep them in and/or not as active i have found. the evenings and the mornings are the prime time for them little bugger's to run around (IMO), and i know how it is when your deer hunting they are everywhere, deer season ends they just seem like they dissapear or few to be found, they are still there and i see them out year around so i wouldn't think just because its later in the season that it would effect the hunting for them. Given the weather that we have had here in NC, I'd choose a nice clear day when the snow is gone and the wind is low, try the morning or the evening and look for there food source or sit close to where they are most active.
