I have been hunting for a long time, but I'm just recently getting into predator hunting. I would jus like to know the best time to go and which calls work for coyotes. thanks

Night time but, Dawn & dusk if you don't "want" to use lights.................I don't like to hunt at night.
Rabbit, rodent in distress Foxpro Spitfire - see below; I think it's great and works well with a Mojo "critter". It's not super loud (you can buy extra speaker though)...................but I don't hunt big open prairies. http://www.gofoxpro.com/products/speakers/sp-5.php I stop calling once I think they've heard "me"; I let the mojo critter do the rest. http://www.cabelas.com/product/MOJO-...=mojo+creitter Buy it directly from Foxpro so you can have it customed program by them; ask for Scott Snook. http://www.gofoxpro.com/products/dig...t_spitfire.php |
Anytime you can get out is a good time to go. They are more active in the morning and evening though. You don't want the wind to be blowing a gale either or they can't here the call. Where you are just started you could save some money and get a cheap mouth call. I use a Tally Ho. They are less than $10 and I have shot more coyotes using that call than any other that I have. If you are willing to spend some money Foxpro is an awesome electronic call. The benefit of electronics is that you can set them up a little way away from you and the coyotes are focused on them rather than on you. It allows you to move a little bit more, but you still need to move as little as possible. Good luck!!! Its a learning game, but extremely fun!
