You wont be able to use the mini 14 at any public land any where neer chicago....I have hunted silver springs for pheasants and the rules are very strict.Go in and talk with the staff on what they will let you use but i bet its only shotgun.

Silver Springs fact sheet says:
"8 hunters per day. Shotguns with shotshells only. See below"
So, no slugs. Is buckSHOT a "shotshell?"

I believe any shell with more than one piece of lead is considered a shotshell.
