shotgun loads for raccoon sized aimals...

Hello. We have an occasionl raccoon and oppossum problem at times here on our land. I was wandering what loads for my shotgun would be effective at shooting animals this size at a range of out to 35 or 40 yards?
I have a Winchester Super X 2 that can use 3 1/2 inch shells if necessary. I do have some 3 1/2 inch turkey loads if this is the best option, or if using lager buckshot will give the best results, I can use those too.
Thanks for any advice and opinions! -- Tim

Raccoons are tough animals so id definetaly use #4 Buck for a shotgun. If at all possible use a .22 rifle. Opossums aern't so bad and can be killed easily with #6 lead shot. Hope this helps and good luck.

A good load of 1 1/4 oz #4 lead will do the trick.

Federal Pheasant Forever, 2-3/4" loads of 1-1/2oz of copper 4's will take care of each with a full choke out to 40 yds with no problem. I take fox at night with them at that distance and it hammers them!!!!!! 3-1/2" turkey loads are a tad overkill. They are pests, not prehistorical!!!!!

This might not help but for small game I have always used just the federal ALL Purpose Load.

I use 3 1/2" mags for any and all predators, I use #5 Shot and #6 shot for foxes so I'm sure that will do the trick.

Geez! what is the problem?

Use #9 trap loads that way you get to shoot more before it gnaws your leg off!

I use high base #6's does the trick
