13pointjomc 08-26-2010 07:40 AM

leman 08-26-2010 08:07 PM

I don't remember what make it was, but I blasted many a bunny with my grandpa's 28 gauge pump when I was younger. I'll have to see if he still has it.

that_guy 08-27-2010 10:49 AM

im thinking about buying a stevens o/u in .410 with fixed ic/m chokes. thats not too constricted, right?

I prefer the 7mm as my rabbit gun. I am not to picky about the ammo I use cause usually no matter what kind of bullet i use the 7mm will get the job done. Here are some pics. Attachment 11500

Backwoods7 08-28-2010 08:53 PM

Remington 870 super mag 12 ga with remington #5 express longrange or my Remington 552 22lr with 36gr federal hp

ray12 09-11-2010 09:23 AM

i like using my mossberg 20 gauge or my mossberg .410 both work good

Palladin8 09-30-2010 09:36 PM

If I am strictly rabbit hunting I will use a 10/22 or Ruger MKII. I shoot the Remington Yellow jacket or cci mini mags. If I happen to see a bunny out hunting something else they will be shot with whatever I am using.

.17 HMR if they're sitting still, and sub gauge shotgun if they're on the run...................

Either way; cottontails are good eating !

max_yoda 11-07-2010 01:49 PM

savage 24 410/22

rgs1975 11-07-2010 04:18 PM

1950's Ithaca Model 37 Featherlight 20 gauge pump with #7

SecondChance 11-07-2010 04:40 PM

Black Widow take-down recurve with judo points or G5 small game heads. If I want to be lazy, I then take my EAA 22 pistol. To make it intersting, I shoot them left handed, makes the day last a bit longer!!!

rbduck 11-07-2010 05:59 PM

We wait till Feb/March before we head out for Jacks when they start to herd up for breeding. Anything that can reach out to 400 yds(open fields) is used. Four or five of us do two or three hunts a year.

J.M.A.N. 11-07-2010 06:01 PM

either a .22 LR or a 22/410 combo

ButchA 11-08-2010 04:56 AM

12ga Remington 870
#6 shot
IC choke tube

Classic, simple, and lots of fun!

2 Samuel 22:35 11-09-2010 07:20 AM

12 Gauge Or .22 Long Depending on what kind of rabbit and if its running or not.
Heavy load for shotgun and just a regular .22 long.

mac266 11-12-2010 06:33 AM

20 gauge Remington 870 with 1 oz. of #6.

coyote#68 12-25-2010 08:15 PM

franchi al48 26 inch barrel improved cyl. with some #6 feild or game loads, rabbits are very easy to kill if you hit them...I also use my over and under if I am feild hunting where they are likely to see me or the dogs coming with a modified over full barrels so I can get them a little farther out if I need, but that 6lb franchi sure does make the walkin a lot easier....

patman75 12-26-2010 05:57 AM

NEF 17 hmr single shot. Hornady varmint express Vmax.

Good for sniping them in the head from long range. Fun with squirells too.

Bernie P. 12-26-2010 06:29 AM

I use one of my .22 Lr guns for small game but I always carry some shells loaded with 6 shot if I'm hunting fur with the 12g just in case something else provides an opportunity.

squeakbuck 01-06-2011 08:12 AM

20ga Ithaca ultra feather lite IMO the best small game gun ever made

coolbrze0 01-12-2011 04:49 PM

Depends on your style of rabbit hunting. When I was a kid we'd jump shoot them out of brush piles & I like .410s for that. Then I graduated to stalking & shooting w/ a .22 Long Rifle. The last 15+ years I've had beagles and I'll never shoot another rabbit that's not in front of my dogs. My favorite rabbit gun is a Remington 870 20 ga. youth model (shorter comb & 21" barrel). I carry Remington Express Long Range shells in both #4s & #6s depending on the cover we're hunting.

KT29 01-12-2011 05:10 PM

For rabbits I use my Henry lever in 22LR with 36grn. hollowpoints.

romat 01-12-2011 05:25 PM

Ruger .22 pistol, a good pair of snowshoes, and a fresh snowfall, it don't get much better....

jhilde 01-12-2011 07:00 PM

Older Savage/Anschutz .22 LR / Mueller 4.5-14x40, here in the midwest farm country most shots are well within 100 yards--

aaalaska 01-12-2011 07:05 PM

Rabbit gun

Usually a S&W 22 sometimes the contender 22.
