Actually not a new trick at all. There's an old timer in Greeley, CO. that used to wright coyote calling articles for a small local hunting paper, and using duck calls was one of his tricks that he incorporates, especially when he called any where near where people duck hunt. His theory was that wounded ducks would land out of water and the coyotes quickly learned that wounded duck was good to eat, so they'd come to a duck call looking for an easy meal.
No different than using turkey calls. Lots of people call up coyotes when turkey hunting, same difference.

I had never thought of doing this. Hmm, new trick for this season, if I get the chance to make it out.

We use to use a live goose. They hear and see it and would come right into it.
