What gun for coyotes?

I'm new to coyote hunting and i'm wanting to get started and i'm wondering which of these two guns you would recommend for coyotes a 243. or a 12ga with buckshot since it can't shoot slugs.

Bring them both

Hornady 75 gr. V-max in .243

and

OOO buck or 4 buck in your 12 gauge with X-full choke

Ready for anything !!!

In heavy cover with shots within 50yds the 12g with #4 buck is a great choice. On the other hand the .243 is also a great choice.Though it will work fine at any range with the right bullet it's at it's best for long shots in windy conditions.Something like the .222 or .223 are great for shots in the 250-300yd range. The 22-250 will get you out to 400-500yds if it's not to windy.I have a CZ 527 in .223 and an Mberg 12g but I need to find the right choke. The Ulti Mag choke it came with is to tight for buck giving donut patterns and only so-so with BB's.

Either the .222 or .223 would be excellent. With the .223 brand/action choices are unlimited.Though a great cal not many (still) offer guns in .222 since the .223 came along and the Military adopted it making ammo/brass low cost.Do you plan to save the pelts? If so a bullet like the Barnes Varmint Grenade would be a great choice.Just match the bullet weight/length to the rifling twist. My CZ has 1:12 twist so 60gr is about the longest bullet it will stabilize well.A faster twist will handle heavier bullets.Good luck!

I would take both. I always go with a scatter gun and a long gun
