make you a circualr wire pen about 20 ft in diameter. on the outside of it make another pen a foot out. put the dog in the inside and put the rabbit on the outside track. make the wire so the rabbit cant get out and the dog cant get the rabbit. let him run that a couple times a week till he starts he getting real crazy for the rabbit. then you can make a drag. then you can start letting rabbits loose and have him run it. dont do the sircle pen too much youll have problems.

Same difference..............................it would be nice if you could put him with some dogs that already have experience (love it when they're competitive).

i have a tame rabbit but it looks just like a cotton tail i let them chase it around they are to young to really hurt i have done that and they have all turned out to be GOOD rabbit dogs

That's what they are bred to do. Take your dog to an area you see lots of rabbits. We start alot of young dogs in our city park. We keep them on a leash and walk them around until we see a rabbit. We take them to that spot and let them smell it. We let them smell several rabbits and then we take them to a spot where we can turn them out on a rabbit they can see. They will run it by sight at first and they will figure their nose out really quick. If you can find an older slow dog that works great too.

I take my 3yr old female Shepherd/Beagle mix out to the local WMA's in the off season and let her run around with me. She stays (at max) 50 yards ahead and/or to either side of me, sniffing everything she can sniff.

She does everything... Squirrels, rabbits, birds, you name it. Any dog will hunt, you just have to give them the opportunity.
