Any kind of bullet for game that small, headshots are pretty common. And I've never been able to re-sized pictures too good in here myself. Clicking on it works fine as is :happy0001:

But the 2 headshots on the right are mine. But yours is still cooler because it was shot from a longer distance. |
Just asking and not looking to start anything, but are Prarie dogs not on the endangered species list in UT still? Reason I am asking is back in 03-04 I was told by DNR that they had made the list in UT and parts of Western CO. Just curious as I love to shoot those little buggers.
Looks like they are on the list but classified as "Threatend" which is not quite as bad as endangered. Not sure if that means they can or can not be hunted though. I do know they caused all kinds of trouble for my friends step fathers ranch out in Blue Bell. We were able to kill 52 of the little vermin in about 4 hours. They had caused a few live stock the step into the burrows and break legs and needed to be put down. |
A quick search shows that there are three species of prairie dogs in UT. The Whitetail, the Gunnison, and the Utah prairie dog. The Utah prairie dog is on the endangered species list, the other two are not. There is no season on the other two on private property, but there is a season on public lands, and all lands that include the Ut. prairie dog are closed season. Also the Coyote Basin is closed to all prairie dog hunting, do to introduction of the Black Footed Feret.

It does'nt help us much unless we can identify them. |
