Looking forward to hunting wolves
 

I was out wandering around, looking for good places to hunt bears this spring. I walked into a meadow to see what the other side was like, but when I got into the meadow it was scattered with carcasses and wolf scat. The thing that surprised me is how many carcasses(20-30 many still had flesh on the bones) and how much scat there was(>1 pile/yd^2). It reminded me of cleaning up dog poop out of the yard in the spring, but instead of probably only 1/4 acre in size it was more like 6 acres of nothing but wolf scat and carcasses.

I am really hoping that MT has a wolf season this year, I mean, if there is that sort of concentration of carcasses and scat over such a large area, wolves have to be spending a considerable amount of time in the immediate vicinity. Hopefully enough to allow me to shoot one if they allow wolf hunting again.

Have the wolves had a impact on the elk up their in MT skiking?

We have a few places to hunt wolves up north but we mostly hunt around 400 thousand acres in Texas for other predators. I have a few pictures of some big wolves I have taken on my website. Check them out if you get a chance.
